Truth is reality, interpret it properly (you have the capability and resources).

Something that is generally true exists independently.  Meaning, it's not decided upon by one person's feelings (opinions) it is simply acknowledged to be a certain way because it just is: reality. A burned down house is a burned down house. These are viewed as characteristics, features that make something distinguishable. This is very crucial for effective communication, or else when a person tried to give directions or make a police report it wouldn't have validity. This is why when making a police report it must be unbiased. Objectivity is being able to put your feelings and bias to the side and it is definitely possible; however a lot of people don't bother or are too ignorant to do so. This is why a lot of things are subjective, because people seem to focus more on their feelings than the facts. This world needs less chaos and conflict and more peace and unity. It needs organization. But humans are flawed creatures and lack balance. Therefore a lot of things are unfortunately going downhill. If people would decide on what is ultimately right, and strive towards balance and focus on facts rather than feelings I believe only then objectivity would be achieved. People seem to forget the meanings of these words though; objectivity is mainly a word that reinforces the separation of feelings from facts and the capability to make the most rational decision. It is a decision making tactic and should be used to form and justify feelings because without the knowledge on something it's kind of foolish to form an opinion (develop personal feelings). People get really defensive against the word "objective" because they feel like people are trying to devalue their subjectivity when that is not the case; rather we are trying to enlighten it with knowledge so that you can have a more well-rounded valid view. For example, if you're going to choose to consume a food high in cholesterol at least know it's bad for your health in high quantities. However, you could still choose to like and consume the food. That is your personal decision. Just be well informed and know what you're doing and what exactly you're dealing with so that you can make the best decision; the ideal decision. Proper ideals would include: healthy diet, good hygiene, etc. You cannot refute objectivity, because you are disregarding truth (which is independently existent). You can't make an absolute statement saying there is no absolutes because you would just sound ignorant like my ex-girlfriend, and you are only proving the existence of absolutes by doing so. Mathematics, laws of physics and gravity; these are objective absolutes (they are independently true and existent). We are merely acknowledging them and accepting. There is no point in argument. Only acceptance. So basically the most important thing is to just live as well informed as possible and make the best rational decisions for your health and happiness (the two general human priorities). Also balance, this is part of the laws of physics and gravity, and it is what keeps things in order; find objectivity (as to say knowledge/evidence) in this and strive towards it.Like building a Jenga tower; the main objective is to keep it balanced so that it doesn't tip over. And of course imbalance causes destruction, which our world is a good example of unfortunately.

Objective characteristics, things that exist independently and are independently true. They are not co-existent they are self-existent. This is crucial for effective communication or else no one would know what you would be referring to. And there would be no valid form of identification. But with the knowledge of objective characteristics we can describe and identify things legitimately. For example, if you name a cat "Short Ears" because he has small stubby ears and if this characteristic wasn't independently true, no one would understand what you meant and it wouldn't make sense. However, obviously anyone who could acknowledge his ears would understand.

A general truth is a statement of fact regarding something that is measurable, demonstrable, and real.

General truths: Our bodies are made mainly of water. All integers are in the real number set. Etc.
Specific truths: My dog has four legs. Your car can't fly. Etc.

The term 'truth' in this context is defined as the 'general agreement' or consensus of those making the determination of validity, however, it does not require unanimous agreement to be considered a statement of truth.
